Good to be back!

I'm sorry if I haven't updated in a while, I've been very ill again and very busy. I'm feeling better now though. Those little rascals have figured out how to get out their cages by themselves and it's caused no end of headaches for us! Sonny's getting his king feathers soon and he'll be a gorgeous boy when he does. Tanjiro lets us pat him like a kitten and Sonny lies back in my hand allowing me to support his head. He also sleeps in my arms and lets me rock him to sleep. Charlie bit my lip the other day and it wouldn't stop bleeding!

Charlie has figured out how to make cute "chook chook" noises like the clever girl she is! Now we nickname her "chook chook" or "chicky" and she's really calmed down since we first brought her home. She's a wonderful little bird and I love her very much.

Monday 20 August 2012

I had a lovely day spending time with all the birds. I snuggled Sonny this morning, gave charlie a cuddle this evening and shared some vegetables from my pizza with Tanjiro about 3 hours ago. Charlie got a lovely pink blanky from me today and she adores it.

She is falling asleep in that photo, isn't it cute? I just need to knit another blanket and each bird will have their own blanky to snuggle in. I'm so proud of Charlie, I remember when she used to start squawking if we so much as walked past her cage. She's settled in so well now.

In other news, mum has her own deviantArt account now for photography and drawings (when I get convince her to do some).

We met the nice man who will be moving in next to us soon, his name is Peter and he'll be replacing our old fence with something nicer than the hideous grey fences we've had for the past 15 years. Peter has a nice wife called Lynne and his son says he knows my dad from when he referees soccer games at the park and has seen my dad wearing the orange vest. Peter has a cute little cat apparently, so I can't wait for them to move in so I can take photos of their furry little friend.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I haven't been feeling well. I haven't really played with my babies today as I slept until 4pm after taking painkillers for my leg. I got a new camera yesterday, and my phone fixed. I can't wait to take more pictures of my 3 little munchkins. Sonny's a beautiful little talker, he hasn't shut up all day. Tanjiro has been a great daddy to Charlie, he spent a long time with her this morning.

Wednesday 15 August 2012

Today I managed to get up early enough to watch Flipper & Lopaka with the birds and Tanjiro was going absolutely berserk during the show. We watched The Mr Men Show as well. As I type this I'm playing an adorable little game called Reachin Pichin and yelling at my naughty boys to be quiet! Why can't they be nice and quiet like Charlie when mummy has to take a nap?

Well, the birds wouldn't shut up today but they're all tuckered out now and tucked up to sleep. The fat lard Tanji ripped the peg from Charlie's cage and pecked her mirror then went around to the other side and pecked the abacus so it fell down! Needless to say, Tanjiro's in the "sin bin" now, the little bugger. I didn't get to watch the cartoons and kids' shows with my babies, sadly, but hopefully if I can get up early tomorrow we can spend time together. I'm a fan of shows like Superhero Squad and Big Babies and so are the birds, they get all excited when they hear the theme music. I also love Good Game SP, Hex is awesome and very funny. I enjoy spending that time being a big kid again, eating Coco Pops and cheering on Thor and Iron Man and The Hulk.

Playing in mummy's knitting
I'm knitting a scarf for my sister's cat to wear when she goes for a walk so she doesn't get cold. I've also got to knit a special pink blanket for my baby Charlie to snuggle her in.

so this isn't even about the birds but I'm so excited, I want to share some of my art I made with a program called Xaos:

I'm not new to fractal art by any means but I really enjoy looking at fractals and creating awesome stuff with Apophysis.

I was meant to see the doctor today but woke up feeling like a zombie and my nose was very swollen and painful and I didn't think I'd manage a car trip without feeling sick. At least it gave me a chance to get some sleep and play with Charlie. I gave her a cuddle today and she bit me, cheeky little blighter! I managed to get my camera going long enough to take some photos of her but there was nothing remotely good to upload.

Charlie's so cheeky and clever, she comes over to me and wants to sit by the computer and play Age of Empires or look at cute kittens with her mummy. She sits there squawking and carrying on and it's so cute. I don't even go near her and she plays up! She makes a big noise for something so little. The boys sat on her cage for a good hour or so today, with Sonny talking away to Tanjiro, who was more interested in preening Charlie's bum through the cage or sicking up in her beak.

just because it's cute, here's a picture of blue by eyeing up my dinner a few weeks ago!

Sunday 12 August 2012

Not much happened today, apart from another of Charlie's epic brat tantrums! How can something so small and cute make such a noise? Had a good time hugging Tanjiro and cuddling Sonny in his little blanket.  Unfortunately, I could not take any photos of the rascals today as now I need a new sim card in my phone to even access my stupid gallery. The card I currently have has seen 6 or 7 different phones in about 5 years and is very damaged. I can't use my camera to take photos, as that's stuffed too. Don't buy Sony cameras, mine didn't even last 2 years!

one of Charlie's epic squawking fits

dad playing with his beloved little princess, Charlie
Charlie's doing very well despite the squawking, she's grown up so much and Tanjiro adores her. She's come a long way from the tiny, frightened baby I brought home from the pet store last month. She has a taste for human flesh (especially if it means getting blood from us XD) and responds to her name now. I think soon she'll figure out how to say "hello Charlie" like a clever girl. Don't listen to anyone who tells you girl birds can't talk, Paris Winter used to tell us to "F*** off".

Dear little Sonny got shut down today when he wanted a kiss from Dad, Dad was having none of it so poor little Sonny had to go back in his cage without a kiss :(

Saturday 11 August 2012

Yesterday I had fun cuddling little Sonny at the computer. Tanjiro sat with me as I ate my toast with berry jam and it was lovely to spend that time with him, his chirps are so cute. Sonny's learning to bite again, he nipped me when I went to kiss him. I haven't had the chance to chase Charlie around the past 2 days, but I can't wait to give her a cuddle in her blanky.

I'm glad I have my 3 birds, I don't go outside much because I get sick a lot and if it wasn't for having birds around to keep me busy, I probably would have ended up in Graylands by now. It seems like just yesterday I came home from school and met my lovely blue boy Tanji. Mum and Dad had to pick me up from school early so I could go home and get ready for a doctor's appointment. I went inside and there was the most beautiful blue budgie I had ever seen sitting on the coffee table, looking at me.

I'd say this was about August/September last year.
I love cute budgies, especially wee babies, they're so fluffy and snuggly once you teach them not to bite. At the time, we still had dear old Buster. He took a real shine to Tanjiro, playing daddy for him. he fed him, played with him, preened him and "sung" to him. Buster had a strong paternal instinct like Tanjiro does.

When we first brought home Sonny in October last year, Tanjiro adored him. he fed him and looked after him just as Buster had done for him. Buster, you taught him well, it's a shame you couldn't be around to meet little Sonny and Charlie.

Friday 10 August 2012

Got up late as usual, woke to 3 squawking babies who wanted a hug. We finally caught Sonny and I spent an hour snuggling with him on the couch watching Kid vs Kat, The Twisted Whiskers Show and YooHoo and Friends. It was so cute listening to his tiny little chirps and he was so cuddly and warm. Tanjiro's been feeding baby Charlie all day, he absolutely adores her. I wish he'd let me pick him up for a hug, blue boy is so fluffy!

Thursday 9 August 2012

Today, me and Charlie had a nice time watching Suphero Squad on ABC3 and she cheered for the Hulk! Tanji was first out the cage this morning, he pushed his way out like "OOH OOH! ME FIRST ME FIRST!" it was so cute. Sonny was hanging upside down on the clothes drying rack like Charlie does in her cage. Charlie and I were watching Big Babies and Spla-a-host too and we enjoyed spending that time together. I love watching the kids cartoons with her.

Charlie likes to spend time with me, especially looking at cute animals on imgur.

Wednesday 8 August 2012

Hello and welcome to this new blog about my experiences in raising budgies over the years. For me, it all started with Collin, a lovely light blue budgie who lived until he was 12 (he died when I was about 3). Then there was Petey, then Pickles (one day, mum opened the door to empty his seed on the lawn and he flew away). Then along came Buster and Beyoncé. Buster was a stunning green and yellow budgie with a very cheeky personality. I remember the first time I held him, the wiggling green and yellow baby wrapped in a yellow tea-towel just melted my heart. Sadly, we lost him last year. After a battle with illness, we made the heart-breaking decision to have our little fellow put down. I'm glad he hung around long enough to have 2 girlfriends and welcome baby Tanjiro to the family. I don't have any photos of Beyoncé or Paris Winter that I can upload as I don't have a scanner.
